DYNASTIC is a Slovak genealogy and heraldry company that traces family histories through archives, records and centuries of documents.
But finding the story is only one part of the job. Then you have to give that story a form worth keeping.
We helped turn their research into family trees and chronicles designed to become part of the family themselves.

It starts with a name.
Then another.
And another.
A birth record.
A marriage.
An occupation.
A village.
A handwritten entry in a registry from hundreds of years ago.
DYNASTIC researches these fragments across historical archives and connects them until individual records begin to form something much bigger.
Something much bigger: a family story.
Our job started when that story needed to become something you could actually hold onto.
From archive to heirloom.
Genealogical research produces a lot of information: names, dates, places, relationships, historical context and original documents.
But DYNASTIC isn’t simply handing its clients a database of what it found. The final result is meant to live in someone’s home, to be opened years from now, shown to children, passed to grandchildren or given as a meaningful gift.
That meant designing the information wasn’t simply about making it readable. It had to feel worth keeping.

A family tree. Literally.
A genealogy can become complicated very quickly. Generations branch, families connect and names multiply until you’re trying to fit decades (or sometimes centuries) of relationships into one composition.
The challenge was to organize all of that information clearly while still creating something beautiful enough to frame.
We worked with hierarchy, typography and composition to make it easy to follow individual family lines without losing sight of the bigger picture.
The result isn’t just a diagram showing who’s related to whom. It’s a portrait of an entire family.
Generations, on one page.
A good family tree has to do two things at once: let you follow the lineage and make you want to look at it.
The amount of information can be enormous, but the final piece shouldn’t feel like a database. Every name needs its place, every relationship needs to make sense, and together they need to create one coherent visual composition.
The information comes first. But it doesn’t have to look like information.

And some stories need more than one page.
A family chronicle goes much further than mapping relationships. It combines genealogical findings with the wider historical story surrounding them: who these people were, where they lived, what they did and what the world around them looked like.
The chronicle turns names and dates into something closer to a family book, giving generations of research a narrative people can actually sit down, read and explore.

Old stories. Not old-fashioned design.
There was an interesting balance to find. These are historical objects and much of their value comes from the past, but that doesn’t mean they need to look like they were designed in it.
We wanted the materials to feel established and timeless without becoming dated.
Warm brown tones.
Considered typography.
Restrained layouts.
Respect the history. Don’t imitate it.
Designed to survive the occasion.
A milestone birthday.
A wedding.
An anniversary.
Or simply because someone finally decided to find out where their family came from.
But the object isn’t supposed to matter only on the day it’s given. The real ambition is much longer than that:
something made for one generation that can eventually belong to another.

What we worked on.
Family tree design
Turning complex genealogical relationships into clear, detailed compositions designed to be displayed and kept.
Family chronicles
Creating editorial layouts for premium family books combining genealogical research with historical storytelling.
Information design
Organizing large amounts of names, dates, relationships and historical information without losing readability.
Visual direction
Finding the balance between contemporary design and the established, historical character appropriate for a premium genealogy service.
You can’t keep the past. You can keep its story.
DYNASTIC does the work of finding that story. We helped give it a form that could make its way from one generation to the next.
